Describe how you do it.

Normally it’s a 12hr shift 6-6, we check vitals signs on our patients first then we take care of most or all of baths that need to be done then we just constantly check on the patients needs and assist the nursing staff and take more vitals throughout the day.

Describe why you do it.

I want to be a nurse one day and I enjoy helping people. Being in this type of hospital environment gives you hands on experience and help for interested future nurses. I have spoken to many nurses who wished they had been a tech before they were a nurse to get the patient interaction experience and learn hands on from nurses.

What was the first step you took to become what you are now?

I applied. Went and talked to theanager in person before I got am interview to express my interest in the position. I also got my CPR certification which is required. Specifically through the American Heart Association. They won’t except a red cross certified person. It also may very from hospital to hospital. Some require you to have a CNA certification but my job trained me.

What do you wish you had paid more attention to in school?

To realize there’s more to life than just studying for your future invest time in what you wanna be or do. Just because you’re an A student doesn’t mean it’ll just automatically be good when you start working. Volunteer, take risks, Practice. Head knowledge can only get you so far.
